CHRIS BYNUM, 31, of Calvert City, KY died at 1:02PM Thursday, October 2, 2003 in Crittenden County, Kentucky due to injuries he received as the result of an ATV accident.
Mr. Bynum known to many as local radio personality and entertainer, "Avis P" was an active member of his community. He was a regular performer at the Nashville Palace. He was serving his first term as a Calvert City Councilman, and was known for working with many charitable events, including, the March of Dimes, the Ronald McDonald Charity Fishing Tournament, Christmas in April, and many others. He was a member of Sharpe Missionary Baptist Church and Calvert City Masonic Lodge #543. He was a licensed Baptist minister.
He is survived by his wife, Tara Mae Lewis Bynum; one daughter, Taylor Danielle Bynum of Calvert City, KY; one son, Zachary Daniel Bynum of Calvert City, KY; his parents, Mike and Neeta Hale of Calvert City, KY; one brother and sister-in-law, Corey and Allison Bynum of Calvert City, KY; his godparents, Ron & Joan Lappin of Calvert City, KY; and his "lil' sis", Amber Lappin Howell of Baltimore, Ohio; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, James David Bynum; and his grandparents, Rev. Jerry & Betty Bynum and Arval and Ilona Keeling.
Services: Funeral services will be at 3:00PM Sunday, October 5, 2003 at First Baptist Church in Calvert City. Rev. Jeremy Short, Rev. James Keeling and Rev. Chris White will officiate, and burial will follow in the Calvert City Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to the Chris Bynum Memorial Fund, c/o Heritage Bank, P.O. Box 525, Benton, KY 42025.
Visitation: Friends may call after 4:00PM Saturday, October 4, 2003 at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home and from 1:00PM until the funeral hour Sunday, October 5, 2003 at First Baptist Church in Calvert City. Masonic rites will be conducted at 7:00PM on Saturday evening at the funeral home.
